As a Platypod Ambassador, I get to work with new gear that is offered. Platypod sent these pieces which I will keep when the review is finished. Larry Tiefenbrunn, AKA Dr. T, is at it again. He keeps finding ways to make life easier for photographers with support of your gear. Sometimes, there are things you don’t know you needed until you start using them. Two new pieces of gear are for holding your phone and tablet. Platypod Mag Tech Specs Platypod MagGrip Tech Specs Platypod Tab Tech Specs Pros Cons Platypod Mag Platypod Mag is designed for holding your Magsafe phone. If you don’t have a Magsafe phone, Platypod has included mountable metal rings to mount non MagSafe gear. Mag comes in two versions. The simple magnetic mount with a 1/4 inch connection. You can buy the Mag for $16.95. I mounted one for my computer phone mount for studio YouTube production and ZOOM meetings. Platypod MagGrip You get more options for mounting and angle control with the MagGrip for $39. Platypod MagGrip adds the ability to mount directly to 3/8ths and 1/4 inch connections as well as any Arca Swiss clamp. MagGrip comes with adjustability using a single knob twist and the extra connection possibilities. Platypod Tab Tab enables you to mount your tablet. There’s a 1/4 inch connection in the back middle of the Tab or on the bottom. Tab is currently priced at $22.95. Gear in use These are simply made tools so I’m going to show how I am using them. I’m sure I haven’t found all uses as the longer I use Platypod gear the more ways I find it to be helpful.
