I took a 1.5 hour hike to the top of #greatsanddunesnationalpark with my backpack full of gear that weighs 60lbs. The climb is barefoot through Saharan style sand dunes. I have to admit I was pretty winded since we left with only 1.5 hours to sunset. I had to hike the whole way and made it with 5 mins to spare. If it had not been for my friends 7 year old son hiking with me and not showing fatigue I would have quit two times. But thanks to his smile and desire to reach the top. I made it to take these photos.
